Triol AK06 Variable Speed Drive NEMA4X: a Feather in Our Cap!

Today we would like to tell you about the top product – the line of variable speed drives (VSD) for submersible units AK06 NEMA4X.

This series has a wide range of rated currents from 250 to 1800 A and voltages of 380 V, 480 V at 50/60 Hz.

When creating a new product, the developers had a highly demanding task – to develop a reliable VSD with enhanced maintainability, working both under the scorching sun of the desert and in Siberia without the use of climate boxes. At the same time, we wanted to keep such our ‘schticks’ as built-in sine filters, mono-cabinet design and small dimensions.

Increasing the degree of protection of VSD’s to NEMA4X allowed to improve reliability – sand, rain, and small snow do not get inside. Nevertheless, it created a number of problems regarding the need to remove heat and excess moisture formed during condensation. These contradictions have been resolved, and now we have a line of VSD’s in which everything is better, higher, stronger:
– working ambient temperature up to +60°C;
– snow protection, sand traps, isolated cooling channel;
– case made of stainless steel;
– block structure (the VSD consists of cubes);
– the entire line is produced in mono-cabinets;
– a range of various options for input rectification schemes: 6-, 12-, 18-pulse;
– optionally built-in active filter compensating device;
– vector control of the PMM;
– built-in sine filter.

Where do these VSD’s operate well?

Triol AK06 VSD’s prove their best in severe conditions of operation – high temperature, sand, snow, sea (in deserts, on sea platforms, in tropics, Siberia). The cases of the VSD’s are completely hermetic, and have a climate system that maintains the internal temperature without taking external air, while maintaining tightness. This system provides comfortable working conditions for all electronics blocks, thereby increasing the reliability of the VSD.

Increased requirements for mains supply distortions – powering from generators, distortion requirement for current consumption is 5% THD, compliance with IEEE 519 standard.

Reduced requirements for service personnel – the VDS’s consist of blocks, which in case of breakdown are easy to replace. This do not require additional settings adjustment and special knowledge. You can also add extra blocks to the spare parts kit.

Until now, VSD’s with 250A, 400A, 630A, 800A, 1000A ratings have been serially produced. Since this quarter, 1200A, 1400A, 1600A, and 1800A VSD’s are available.
