Triol AT27 at Kyivvodocanal
We would like to tell you about one interesting example of medium voltage variable frequency drive Triol AT27 application for water pumping.
In summer 2013 medium voltage VFD Triol AT27 was set into operation at Dnieper water pumping station of the Kievvodocanal.
It is necessary to mention, that JSC Kievvodocanal is the biggest water supply and wastewater facility in Ukraine with 900 cubic meters average daily water supply. In order to work efficiently such a big entity requires equipment, which will be able to optimize pumping station work and reduce energy consumption.
Thus, Triol AT27 was installed in the cabinet type with the power 500 kW and voltage 6 kV. The main task of VFD for this application is the motor speed regulation for controlling pumps’ flow and pressure.
Benefits of this VFD:
- Reduced energy consumption
Triol AT27 regulates the water flow, optimizes pumping station work and reduces energy consumption.
- Pressure and flow stabilization
Water consumption is irregular during a day. It causes pressure lops, water hammers and other negative consequences. Triol AT27 facilitated pressure stabilization in pipe. In the result, this station can pump water in required quantity.
- Soft starting
Triol AT27 has a soft start of the motor. This function accelerates the motor speed, reduces the quantity and power of water hammers and prolongs lifetime of the equipment.
- No water hammers
Water hammers occur during sudden stops of the water flow in the pipe. Triol AT27 regulates pipes’ water flow. Thus, it reduces soft starts and stops of pumping station motor, which can result in water hammers.
- Extending lifetime of the equipmen
Soft starts and stops of the motor protect electrical equipment from overload, extend its lifetime and reduce maintenance costs.
